Terroir and grape varieties

The vineyard lies on a wide plateau of clay (blue clay) with areas of silica gravel.

The subsoil, composed mainly of clay, also contains iron oxide “crasse de fer”, bestowing velvety, silky and smooth qualities to the tannins.

The vineyard is composed of :

• 70% Merlot
• 15% Cabernet Franc
• 15% Cabernet Sauvignon

The vines are, on average, 35 years old, which is a good age for producing high quality and well-balanced wines.

One hectare of Sauvignon has also just been planted in AOC Bordeaux blanc.
